We’re recruiting! JUNIOR SCRIPT EDITOR

Who we are

We pride ourselves on making shows that feel bold and original!

The award-winning team behind Urban Myth Films are International Emmy award-winning producers Johnny Capps and Julian Murphy and BAFTA award-winning writer Howard Overman. In 2002, Johnny and Julian established Shine Drama, where they created and produced many international hits including Love Bytes (Foxtel, Australia), the award-winning Hex (Sky One), the International Emmy Award-winning Sugar Rush (Channel 4), Synchronicity (BBC), Disconnected (BBC) and Demons (ITV), and the multi-award winning Merlin (BBC1). Merlin ran for five series until 2012 and sold to over 180 countries worldwide. Howard began his TV writing career on hit shows such as Hustle and New Tricks for the BBC before joining Merlin in 2008. Since then he has created a number of critically acclaimed series including the BAFTA award-winning Misfits (E4) in 2009 and comedy police procedural Vexed (BBC2) in 2010.

In January 2013, Johnny, Julian and Howard set up Urban Myth Films with the intention of creating television drama and film for the international market. Urban Myth Films’ first commission was the 13-part action adventure series Atlantis for BBC1 and BBC America. Since its foundation Urban Myth Films has developed and produced an exciting slate of projects including three series of War of the Worlds for Canal Plus and Disney Plus, A Confession for ITV, Crazyhead for Channel 4 and The One for Netflix. We are currently filming the second series of Sky thriller The Lazarus Project whilst preparing a new high-octane action series that will start filming next year.

The role

As Junior Script Editor, you will join the team on productions ensuring the smooth running of script amends and aiding the production team with any script-related queries. You will often be required to write documents such as series and episodic synopses and character bios.

The first production you will work on will be an ambitious 8-episode action thriller that is due to start filming in May next year. You do not need prior Final Draft experience or a previous script editing credit – we will provide training.

You will assist on the varied development slate, working alongside the team on existing projects with a wide range of writers. You will read novels, scripts and pitches and will be required to provide considered feedback to the Head of Development. You may also be asked to help with research on existing or potential projects.
